Shrill

Sometimes Lindy West is very funny, most of the time she’s a brilliant writer and thinker. Sometimes, like all memoirists, she’s a bit navel-gazey. I think she’s a super brave bad-ass for taking on the trolls (and winning big once!) I had never thought very much about fat politics, but this book prompted me to examine my own assumptions and biases. I especially value her meta-analyses of the comedy industry. I also loved the dishing of dirt about Seattle, its cliques and locales, and The Stranger. [Was not aware Dan Savage was such a butthole.] I’ve recommended this book to many folks and have already acquired her next one The Witches are Coming to read when my powers of concentration return. #CoronaVirus
